Richard’s professional career in music began as a pianist/arranger in bands and studios in New York City. He has performed with such great artists as Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Patti Austin, and Nell Carter, to name a few.
Richard has written, arranged and produced music for The X-Files,( I Want to Believe DVD,) PBS (Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Square One TV), USA Network (Royal Pains,) NBC (Saturday Night Live, Rosie O’Donnell, Passions,) ABC (promos for Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives,) CBS, Nickelodeon, VH1, MTV, Disney, Sony, HBO, Cinemax, Johnson & Johnson, Random House as well as commercials for Subway, Dairy Queen Daffy’s and Mattel.
Recently, Richard’s CD, “Tootsie Tunes”, placed second as “Best Solo Piano CD” at the prestigious JPF Music Awards in Los Angeles. The stride jazz piano CD has charted on numerous jazz stations throughout the world. “Would Ya”, one of the tunes from the CD is prominently featured in the major motion film, “American Pastime”, released by Warner Bros.
Richard has also recorded two piano CDs entitled, “Saloon Tunes” and “Tommy’s Supper Club”. Tracks from both albums are being featured on numerous network and cable television shows.
His body of work, numbering well over 1000 pieces, is broadcast in some 60 countries and has garnered 3 Emmy nominations, 2 Grammy nominations and 7 International Telly Awards.
Richard shares his musical career with his wife, producer/director/composer Gerri Brioso, and a big, fuzzy, goofy, sweetheart of a dog named Tootsie, while splitting his time between New York City and Connecticut.
