The word JIVA (jee-vuh) means the living soul. For this Metro Deroit based band music and soul go hand in hand. Thier sound is a mix of rock and R&B.  Fans and critcs have described Jiva as "modern rock with a classic soul". Jiva is a 2012 Detroit Music Award nominee for Outstanding Rock/Pop group and the bands music is currently featured on cable TV and major network shows and films such as Mob Wives on VH1, Made on MTV, Flipping Out on Bravo, What Not to Wear, and Last Call with Carson Daly. Influences range from 90's rock with ethereal texture like Radiohead, and U2 to grungier more driving rock riffs in the vain of Soundgarden and Zeppelin, which all gets rounded out by Michael Turners soulful "Lenny Kravitz-ish" vocals.  Two of the earlier JIVA albums feature a female vocalist that gave the band a more Evanescence or Paramore type of sound.  visit us at www.jivamusic.net
