Gene Summer is a gifted crooner, drummer and trombone player who started his career at the age of seventeen performing and singing with, amongst others, the Belgian National TV Big Band and the National Radio Jazz Orchestra and … having his first hit record in Belgium.
He has appeared as a guest singer throughout Europe: in Kopenhagen with the Danish Radio Big Band at the North Ring Festival in the famous “Moulin Rouge” jazz club, in Rostock at the “Menschen und Meer Songfestival”, in Holland with the Metropool Orchestra (conducted by Rogier van Otterloo) and the Skymasters Big Band for the Dutch national TV stations, etc.
After he had founded his own band The Music Makers, that performed throughout Europe and later became the backing group for the famous dutch singer Rob de Nijs, he founded his own big band The Summerband which turned out to be an ideal platform for young and upcoming musicians to develop their talents and skills.
Most recently he’s been performing with his new Amano Big Band and recording new songs written by Evert Verhees and Michael Garvin (George Benson, Jennifer Lopez, etc).
