Australian-born producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and arranger Gene Shill has produced, written and recorded for over 40 commercial and independent releases worldwide.
Hailed as the "consummate musician's musician", with over 17 years in the industry, his work can be found on renowned labels such as Ministry Of Sound, Hed Kandi, and Vicious Vinyl and on his own label Red Cherry Records under the moniker Chilli and Soul.
With accolades that describe Genes sound as "an amazing musical ride........ a nice mix of electronic, soul, ambient and jazz its fine wine!" and "delightfully stimulating with serious chill factor!" - its no wonder that Genes music has had over 800,000 downloads on iTunes and various other online platforms.
Schooled in classical saxophone and orchestral composition, heavily influenced by his experience touring internationally and recording as a Jazz, Soul, Funk, Rock and Neo Soul session musician from as young as 13, and armed with a BA in Music Industry and an MA in Entertainment Management, Gene brings not only his constantly evolving, fresh and timeless musical style but his technical proficiency and an intuitive ability to draw out the better part of each artists best.
While his current catalogue of work ranges from Break Beat, Future Soul, Neo Soul to Jazz, Rock/Acoustic Rock, Dance and Chillout, Genes unique and progressive style cannot be confined within the boundaries of just one genre.
Driven by his passion and commitment to his craft, Gene is nearing the completion of his PHD Doctoral studies in Music Technology and Education with a major in Recording Technology and Intellectual Property/Music Law in Cyberspace.
Gene also belongs to Golden Key International Academic Honours Society, Society of Composers and Lyricists, The Grammy Association, Australian Performing Rights Association and ASCAP.
