Biography / Info
The crooning singer-songwriter delighted us on such hits as the Platinum Pied Piper’s cover of “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover” as well as on creamy gems like “Come Into My World,” “Hollywood Story (featuring Bilal)” and “Fa Sho” from his debut album Life & Music: All of It, a smooth soul classic. After releasing various singles and remixes in the ensuing years to keep fans appetite whet, Rogiérs is back with a new album, theShedding released 3/14/14. Led by new single "Messed Up On Love (featuring Stephanie Fisher)” written by Rogiérs and co- produced with Rogiérs by David Hunter, the song signals a more crossover direction from the soul star, still by this clean cuts end, this American expatriate in the U.K. and Spain definitely reminds you of his Urban, Brokenbeat, House and Jazz roots. Developed for wide appeal, “theShedding" lays bare the emotive singer’s raw emotions of love, loss and perspective.
Many things could be said about Rogiérs (pronounced Ro-ghe-ay); the Caribbean born, New York bred, European educated singer-songwriter, producer with four albums and more than 15 artist collaborations internationally distributed on various imprints. He has toured the world in concert halls, festivals, supper-clubs and television as a featured solo/recording artist and also as supporting act to Alicia Keys, Robert Glasper, Christian McBride, Jaleel Shaw, Chris Dave, Laura Izibor, N'Dambi, Platinum Pied Pipers, Questlove (The Roots) and other notables. Whatever comes to mind, since 2002 Rogiérs has worked hard to develop a notable profile as a premier solo artist with one of finest voices in the echelon of independent Urban/R&B, Jazz, Soul and House/Deep-House music worldwide.
His work and appearances have broken mainstream commercial radio R&B- Urban/Pop charts in the United States & Europe, been Soul and House music favorites and attracted press coverage from Okayplayer, Vibe Magazine, SoulCulture, Rolling Out Magazine and IDJ Magazine among other international publications. Most recently Rogiers studied in Valencia, Spain in the first ever Master's degree program of the acclaimed Berklee College of Music where he performed many concerts and headlined the Terraza Jazz Festival, July of 2013.
Leading into theShedding’s March release new lead single "Messed Up On Love" amassed over 38,000 views on VEVO and YouTube and is receiving great reception across huge demographics. The new album typifies Rogiérs’s penchant for stylistic versatility and fluency across genres while maintaining an identifiable sound. He crosses the musical realms of Urban/AC-R&B, Jazz, Deep House music and Soul along with some of the industry’s best global production talent for theshedding. Rogiérs will be kicking off the album release with dates in Europe this summer.
