Biography / Info
Formed in 2009, Down the machine are a 4 piece alternative rock band from Leeds (UK). Calling on inspiration from Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, and Stabbing Westward, DTM create a sound that merges elements of Grunge, Nu-Metal and Industrial Rock genres. Incorperating electronics into the live band format, Down The Machine create a dark, brooding, yet seamless sound containing real energy both in the studio and at live shows.
Driven by front man & songwriter Steve Wilson, DTM released their debut single Losing Faith in June 2010, with their album following in August. They were instantly championed by BBC Radio Leeds and highly praised by many rock zines. The band signed with Ambicon Records late 2010 and their following ‘Let You In’ EP release gained much support from radio stations across the UK, US plus many other countries. Down The Machine have a cult following in countries as far apart as Canada, Australia and New Zealand!
Active on the North East gig circuit and building a loyal fan base in the region, DTM’s rock show has recently seen them headline at the first ever Leeds Metal Fringe Fest and make their debut appearance at Leeds Festival this year. 2012 shall see the band bring their music to venues across the UK.
Their latest single ‘Know Your Place’ released on 10th Oct 2011 showcases one of the bands most promising creations to date and continues to further catapult DTM into new heights of interest, recognisition and credibility. With a further single and new album out in the new year, 2012 should be an exciting time for the band who have proven they have the skills, potential and ambition to continue moving from strength to strength.

‘Powerful and stirring it is another indication that Down The Machine is one of the best UK rock bands around right now and the single itself one of the musical highlights of the year.’
Ringmaster Review Introduces
‘Gravel infused vocals and a ‘hum it ’till Tuesday’ chorus ensures that the major record companies will soon be clambering all over them for that drop of rock ‘n roll blood on the contract. Certainly, for fans of atmosphere laden rock with rough edges.’
Push To Fire
‘For those who love nineties rock and that deep raw vocal emotion that dark music icons such as Trent Reznor and Eddie Vedder honed so well, Down the Machine is the next logical choice and after just twenty seconds of the clip off of ‘Know Your Place’ you most likely will be looking for a place to purchase the new album.’
New Music Blog
‘Know Your Place, the new single by Down The Machine, blends a subtle hint of industrial with a large spoonful of good, 1990′s metal. Try imagining 30 Seconds To Mars jamming with Burn The Fleet. This has all the hooks and epic sounding rifts to gain good air time if picked up by the right people, and I hope it is as this beats a lot of the pop-with-guitar bands that are cluttering up the airwaves.’
‘Know Your Place’ is a monster of a track; effortlessly holding your attention through the sweepingly atmospheric and melodically rich verses, while slowly building your anticipation for the suitably huge and anthemic chorus.
