Biography / Info
Corei Taylor is a singer/songwriter who hails from Detroit, Michigan. Six years ago, Corei sold or gave away most of his belongings, except his musical gear of course, and drove across country to LA to further pursue his dream of becoming a music industry professional. Since the move, Corei has arranged and performed background vocals for Latin artist Flora Purim and also for Nita Whitaker. He has recorded background vocals for prominent middle-Eastern artist Kazem Al-Saher and has performed professionally with one of his own favorite groups, Grammy award winning, Take 6.
Prior to the big move to LA, Corei spent his time singing in church and with a local acapella group that he formed with some of his friends. The group, Stay Tuned, performed for many of Detroit's pro sporting events, radio and television stations which led to them win a jingle contest for a local news station. The aptly titled "Go For It" was co-written and arranged by Corei and was played on a nightly local news broadcast.
Both of his parents are accomplished vocalists in their own right and he has an older brother who is an accomplished pianist. Corei grew up in a household where he learned tight harmonies at an early age. He often would sit on the stairs while his fathers own acapella group rehearsed in the basement, listening and training his ear to interpret each part. Among his musical influences are Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Max Martin, Brandon Barnes, Brian McKnight, Take 6, Prince, Rascall Flatts, Earth, Wind & Fire amongst many others.
